Rebecca Fuselier: The CrossFit Dynamo

Written by: Tomas Morgan

In the world of CrossFit, there are athletes, and then there are athletes like Rebecca Fuselier. She's not just an enthusiast of the sport; she's a driving force, a symbol of relentless determination, and a dedicated coach. With her home gym boasting around 200 members, Rebecca Fuselier has become a staple in the CrossFit community. We delve into the life of this cross-fitter and her journey from gymnastics to becoming a prominent figure in the world of functional fitness.

Rebecca's day is a whirlwind of training, coaching, and content creation, a testament to her love for staying active and productive. This passion for content creation has led her to enjoy shooting hilarious Instagram reels and TikToks, where her vibrant personality shines through. But it's not all fun and games; her journey to becoming a CrossFit athlete started at a young age.

At just 13 years old, Rebecca began her CrossFit journey. She already had a background in gymnastics, which played a crucial role in shaping her into the powerhouse she is today. "It's a sport of hard work," she says, reflecting on her beginnings. The strength and conditioning she developed as a gymnast served as a solid foundation for her transition to CrossFit. But Rebecca does regret not being a multisport athlete as a kid. She believes that the more skills and knowledge you accumulate as a child, the better prepared you will be when focusing on a specific sport or profession in the future.

Rebecca's decision to try CrossFit was influenced by her mother, who introduced her to the sport after she decided to end her gymnastics career at age 13. What drew her in was the element of continuous improvement – the more effort you put in, the better you get. "I wasn't the most athletic one in my family, but I was not going to get outworked by anyone," she says.

But what truly sets CrossFit apart for Rebecca is its sense of community. In the CrossFit world, "whoever finishes last gets the loudest cheers." This sense of camaraderie and support was a far cry from her days in gymnastics, which tended to be more individualized.

Rebecca experienced this sense of community firsthand during one of her competitions. She had to carry 150-pound sandbags over a 200-meter distance. Struggling but determined to finish, she climbed the stairs to the capital building, not knowing if anyone would stay to watch. To her surprise, hundreds of people cheered her on, reinforcing the sense of unity that CrossFit represents.

Being a professional cross-fitter we asked her about advice for women intimidated by the gym, Rebecca emphasizes the importance of learning and connecting the mind with muscles for better results. She encourages individuals to educate themselves to maximize gains and boost confidence in the gym.

Her one-rep max numbers – a squat at 275 pounds, a deadlift at 305 pounds, and a bench press at 170 pounds – are undoubtedly impressive. However, she isn't interested in showing up to her fellow athletes but rather in pushing herself to new heights, creating a culture of healthy competition in her gym.

When asked about her favourite place to travel, she mentions Miami, where she hopes to compete in a CrossFit event in January. However, she also recognizes that the CrossFit community is not without its controversies, and she strives to highlight the positive aspects of the sport to foster its growth while addressing challenges like competition schedules and financial issues.

In terms of her own nutrition and training, Rebecca doesn't rely heavily on supplements, mainly using protein powders and creatine. Her daily diet consists of various foods like chicken, shakes, and lean ground beef, as she is currently focused on gaining size and strength.

Rebecca Fuselier is not just a CrossFit athlete; she is a force of nature, an inspiration to all who follow her journey. Her life motto is simple: "No Regrets." She urges the next generation not to get caught up in the "what ifs" and to pursue their passions with dedication and vigour. With her tireless work ethic and passion for CrossFit, Rebecca Fuselier continues to be an influential figure in the world of functional fitness, inspiring countless individuals to chase their dreams and achieve greatness.
